Windy and Rainy 18-4-2025

Conditions
No snow or ice was seen lying on the mountain today on a cloudy day, with constant rain, and a strong breeze. This rain was falling as a wintry mix of rain and sleet close to the summit.

Essential equipment
Seasonally appropriate walking gear, including lighting (such as a headtorch or two).

Additional Information
On the Friday of the report, the forecast suggests that the temperature on the summit will be a few degrees above freezing for most of the period until the next report on Tuesday. Temperatures at the summit are forecast to be as low as 2˚C, feeling as low as -7˚C.

No snow or ice looks likely to develop from the forecast on the day of the report but there are periods of wind and rain which could make conditions feel quite unpleasant at times, and make it difficult to keep warm enough. Saturday in particular looks like a day to avoid for those who want to increase safety and enjoy their day on the mountain, with Sunday looking more promising.
